Ranchi, April 22: Governor Ramesh Bais today took cognizance of the matter of a rape victim, who faced a problem in the registration of FIR at Bandgaon police station in West Singhbhum district.
As the governor came to know that the victim’s father was sitting for 30 hours at the police station for registration of FIR, he took strong exception to this and directed the deputy commissioner of the district to take action in the matter.
Following the governor’s direction, the deputy commissioner ascertained the fact and ensured the registration of the FIR. After the FIR was registered, information was sent to the governor’s office.
Governor Bais while taking cognizance observed that the incident of abducting and raping a minor girl in a village under Bandgaon police station of West Singhbhum district is a matter of concern and is highly condemnable for any civilized society.
Expressing anger over the delay in the registration of FIR, he said that everyone should do their work with full devotion. He said that there should be no hesitation in registering an FIR in the police station.
