Ranchi, Feb 20: The Jharkhand High Court, while hearing a matter of cancellation of admission of a candidate in the state-run Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), issued a notice to National Medical Commission (NMC) seeking its clarification in the matter.

The development took place after the aggrieved candidate, Ashirwad Suman, a resident of Jharkhand’s Lohardaga district knocked on the door of the high court challenging cancellation of his admission.

The candidate pointed out in the petition that he was not able to hear and the seat was reserved for the disabled. He also pointed out in the petition his seat was allotted to a girl from outside Jharkhand, Prachi Priya.

Thus the court also issued notice to the girl seeking her reply in the matter. Apart from this the court also directed the petitioner to furnish his pure tone audiometric (PTA) test report after getting his ear properly tested from any designated centre in Kolkata.

The high court, with notices and direction, deferred the hearing in the matter till March 14.

Advocate Subhashish Rasik Soren, who represented the petitioner in the court, confirmed the development. Advocate Nipun Bakshi argued on behalf of RIMS in court.

Soren said Suman was selected for admission after he qualified for the MBBS course in RIMS. After selection, he took his admission to RIMS. The health institution also collected all the fees at the time of admission. But after a few days, RIMS cancelled his admission without assigning any proper reason and allotted his seat to another candidate, who is from outside Jharkhand.
