Ranchi, May 17: The Jharkhand High Court, which had seized the right of the Ranchi Municipal Corporation and the Ranchi Regional Development Authority to approve building plans on December 1 last year after taking suo moto cognizance of a media report highlighting malpractices in clearing the plans, today restored their rights.

The court noticed a media report suggesting that the municipal bodies charge Rs 20-30 square feet besides the requisite fee of Rs 8 per square feet.

A division bench of Justice S Chandrasekhar and Justice Ratnakar Bhengra restored the power after hearing the argument from all the sides in the matter and getting convinced that sufficient measures have been taken to keep the building approval plan transparent.
