Ranchi, Feb 3: The Jharkhand High Court stayed the notice issued to the former national president of Indian National Congress and Wayanad MP, Rahul Gandhi, from the court of judicial magistrate Anamika Kisku to appear in a case filed by one Naveen Jha.
The development took place in the court of Justice Ambuj Nath while hearing an interlocutory application (IA) of Gandhi filed after Jha filed a complaint case against Gandhi in the lower court.
Jha had filed the case in 2018 after Gandhi passed objectionable remarks against Amit Shah during an election campaign. Kisku’s court issued a notice in the case recently directing the congress leader to appear before the court on February 4.
The advocate appearing on behalf of Gandhi informed the high court regarding the development in the lower court. The high court, taking note of it, stayed the notice. Staying notice the high court also deferred further hearings in Gandhi’s IA till February 10.
