Ranchi, Feb 24: The Jharkhand High Court today warned the Jharkhand government against any further delay in filling vacant posts of the bodies constituted for the better care of children across the state.  The bodies include Juvenile Justice Board, Child Welfare Committee and State Children Protection Commission.

Chief Justice Sanjaya Kumar Mishra gave the warning while hearing a PIL. The court directed the government to file an affidavit giving the status report within a week. The PIL was filed by a volunteer associated with Bachpan Bachao Andolan, an organization working for the welfare of children.

The situation came after the state government sought further time for filing an affidavit in the matter while during the earlier hearing the state government had submitted that a retired Justice AK Gupta has been made the chairman of the selection committee for the appointment and the recruitment process will be completed soon.

The high court was also told that six posts of social members are vacant in the JJ Board. At the same time, 6 posts of CWC chairman are vacant. The government had submitted that the advertisement was published and applications received were scrutinized.

Advocate Amit Kumar Tiwari appeared on behalf of Bachpan Bachao Andolan to let the court know about the problem children are facing due to vacancies in bodies constituted for better care of children.
