Ranchi, July 7: The Jharkhand High Court today gave liberty to a retired teacher to pursue his remedy as per law for getting his due medical bill.
Justice S.N.Prasad granted the liberty hearing to a contempt petition filed by the retired teacher of Government Middle School, Garhwa, Balmiki Tiwary. The teacher had filed the contempt petition following non-payment of some of the parts of his bill incurred in 2009 for the treatment of his 17-yr-old son who is no more.
The teacher wanted reimbursement of medical bills amounting to Rs 4.59 lakh in accordance with the high court order while he could get Rs 2.76 lakh from the education department.
Advocate Amit Kumar Tiwary, who appeared on behalf of the petitioner, informed about the development saying before the court gave the liberty it summoned the secretary of school education and literacy department Rajesh Sharma to explain the circumstances under which the entire bill was not paid.
“After Sharma expressed his helplessness saying whatever amount was permissible according to AIIMS guidelines was paid, the court was not inclined to allow contempt petition but granted liberty to the petitioner to file a fresh writ to get the outstanding amount,” Tiwary said.
