Ranchi, Aug. 18: The Jharkhand High Court today ordered a CBI probe into a matter of ‘illegal mining’ at Nimbu Pahad under the Jirwari police station area in Sahibganj.
A single bench of Justice Sanjay Kumar Dwivedi ordered the probe after hearing the PIL filed by Vijay Hansda.
Hansda through his petition demanded a CBI probe informing about illegal mining at the said place. Through his petition, Hansda informed the court that when he attempted to stop illegal mining, MLA representative of chief minister Hemant Soren, Pankaj Mishra, threatened him of dire consequences.
Incidentally, Hansda had filed a petition a couple of days back to withdraw the PIL, but the court dismissed his application for withdrawal of the petition.
Advocate Sudhanshu Shekhar argued before the court on behalf of Hansda.
Vijay Hansda is one of the witnesses of the ED probing laundering of money earned by illegal mining. He told the agency that when he tried to lodge an FIR against Pankaj Mishra for carrying illegal mining at Nimbu Pahad, the police refused to lodge the case.
Later on, Vijay Hansda lodged a court complaint on July 7. The court then directed the Sahibganj police to lodge the FIR. When the matter was developing it came to the fore on that Hansda requested the police not to lodge the case as it was untrue. Later, Hansda denied the fact.
