Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court is set to hear two high-profile bail pleas on Friday, involving senior IAS officer Vinay Choubey and former minister Alamgir Alam—both currently in judicial custody in connection with serious corruption charges.
Vinay Choubey’s bail plea in liquor scam case
Senior IAS officer Vinay Choubey, arrested in connection with the state’s liquor scam, will have his bail petition heard by Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad’s bench. Choubey has been behind bars as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigates allegations of large-scale financial irregularities in liquor distribution and procurement.
Alamgir Alam’s petition in tender scam case
Simultaneously, the court will also consider the bail plea of Alamgir Alam, former minister accused of laundering crores through a rigged tendering process. The ED has claimed significant evidence linking Alam with the proceeds of crime uncovered in recent raids.
High-stakes hearing ahead
Given the political and administrative stature of both accused, the hearings are being closely watched. The outcomes may set important legal and political precedents in the state’s ongoing crackdown on corruption.
