Jharkhand Home Guard gets 395 trained women

Ranchi, March 25: Jharkhand Home Guard today got as many as 395 women to extend their duty in Ramgarh and Latehar as ADG (Home Guard and Fire Services) Suman Gupta took salute of their passing out parade after completion of their 42 training at Central Training Institute (CTI) under the supportive supervision of CTI commandant Ashok Kumar.

 

Out of 395 as many as 219 were from rural and urban areas of Ramgarh while as many as 165 were from rural and urban areas of Latehar district. Their training started on February 12 this year.

 

The Indian Home Guard is a volunteer tasked as an auxiliary to the Indian police. The Home Guards Organisation was reorganised in India in 1966 after the Sino-India war with the People’s Republic of China, though it existed in smaller units individually in some places.

 

Home Guards are recruited from various cross-sections of the civil society such as professionals, college students, agricultural and industrial workers (but only to the government) etc who give their spare time for betterment of the community. All citizens in the age group of 18–50, are eligible. The normal tenure of membership in Home Guards is three to five years.
