The health minister said that there is no need to fear as the system is fine. At present, beds with ventilators, ICU, and oxygen beds are available in Sadar hospital. There is also sufficient stock of medicines.
“The doctors of Sadar Hospital have gained a lot of experience from the past Corona era, so we have experienced doctors. We don’t need to worry either way,” he said.
After the Mock drill at Sadar hospital, the health minister said that there are a total of 19,356 beds present across various hospitals in Ranchi out of which 1,456 are ventilator beds and 1,435 are ICU beds.
Moreover, there are 11,356 oxygenated beds, eight functional RT-PCR labs and 300 TrueNat machines operational across the city.
Similar to Sadar hospital, a mock drill was also conducted at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) where the RIMS Director, Medical Superintendent and all the officials took stock of the resources available in RIMS.
In view of the danger of increasing infection of Covid-19, some preparations were also seen in RIMS and there are some shortcomings as well. The RIMS management will soon be ready for any eventuality by taking it away. There is a shortage of manpower, and the process of removing it is going on. However, at present only two patients of Corona are being treated in RIMS and the situation is under control.
RIMS Director Dr Kameshwar Prasad, who came out after inspection, said that all the temporary Covid hospitals that were built are in order and as per the situation, they will be operated. Beds, mattresses, and oxygen supply are all there during the inspection.
He told that the LMA tank of oxygen is empty and will be refilled. Along with this, the supply of oxygen will also start. There will never be a shortage of oxygen during the wave.
While addressing this, he said that this year there will be neither shortage of medicines nor a shortage of oxygen. He added that currently, enough medicines are available in RIMS.
“As the number of patients increases, the stock of medicines will also be increased,” he said.
Notably, RIMS has a total of 2,200 beds, which are oxygen supported. He told that the manpower is also not less and another 310 nurses are to be reinstated whose names have been sent to the Jharkhand Staff Commission.
The facts derived from the mock drill at RIMS are that a 330-bed hospital is ready in RIMS parking. An 800 D-type jumbo oxygen cylinder has been refilled. 400 small B-type oxygen cylinders are kept and 56,000 kilolitres of medical oxygen liquid plant are active. The PSA plant is also active.
