Ranchi, Mar 23: The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) has changed the eligibility criteria regarding the Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test (J-TET) Examination 2022. Candidates belonging to the ‘General’ caste category must show data proving that they have passed their matriculation (10th) and inter examination (12th) from Jharkhand in order to be eligible to appear for the J-TET 2022.
A candidate is only eligible to write the J-TET exam if they qualify the eligibility criteria. As per the newly revised criteria, the candidates who belong to the general category must pass classes 10 and 12 exams from the state of Jharkhand to appear for JTET 2022. This criterion is not subject to the candidates of other categories.
Notably, the J-TET eligibility criteria are different for both the papers. A candidate must qualify the eligibility criteria pertaining to the paper they want to appear for. If the candidate wishes to appear for both the papers then the criteria must be met for both the papers separately.
In case of Paper 1, that is held for candidates wishing to teach primary levels has criteria that suggests the candidates should have a minimum of 45 percent in 12th standard or any course equivalent to it along with a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education or candidates should have a minimum of 50 percent in 12th standard or any course equivalent to it along with a 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (BElEd) or candidates should have a minimum of 50 percent in 12th standard or any course equivalent to it along with a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education) or candidates with B.A/ B.Sc with at least 50 percent marks and having a BEd degree from a recognized university.
Meanwhile, for Paper 2, applicants who are graduates with 45 percent marks and passed or are appearing in final 2-years DElEd or applicants must have passed 50 percent marks or are appearing in the final year of BEd must also have 50 percent marks in Class 12. The applicant must also have a 4-years degree in Bachelor in Elementary Education (BElEd)/4-years BA/ B.Sc.Ed or the candidate must have a BEd/ BSc (Ed)/ BSc (Special Education) with 50 percent marks.
Dates for the upcoming exams are yet to be announced however, the process of amendment in the JTET Rules was completed at the beginning of the month. Primary teacher appointment manual is also likely to be completed by the end of this month. The process of teacher appointment can be started in the primary and middle schools in the state soon. The Primary Teacher Recruitment Rules have been approved by the Personnel Department.
By the end of this month, the rules are also likely to get approval from the cabinet. After that the recruitment process shall start soon. According to the provision of the Right to Education Act, for the appointment of teachers in classes one to eight, it is mandatory for the candidate to be successful in JTET. So far, two teacher eligibility tests have been conducted in the state. Notably, then in the year 2013, 55 thousand candidates were successful in JTET, while in the year 2016, 52 thousand candidates were successful in the eligibility test.
