Daltonganj, Feb 16: A 29-year-old man identified as Manjit Korwa was attacked by a leopard in the jungle of Mundoo of the Garu West range on Wednesday.
The deputy director South division of the Palamu Tiger Reserve Kumar Ashish has confirmed the leopard attacked and injured a human in the protected forest of Mundoo.
Bipin Kumar, the forest guard, on being contacted said, “The leopard attacked Manjit Korwa in the jungle at Ladee under Mundoo protected forest on Wednesday noon.”
He said the tribal man was out in the jungles in search of raisins for making rope when the leopard attacked him and injured his right hand.
Bipin Kumar said we took him to the referral hospital Garu where he was treated by the doctor for a tooth bite injury.
A senior doctor of the referral hospital Garu Dr J P Sahu said Korwa was given his first shot of the anti-rabies injection and has been asked to visit the referral hospital Garu three more times for the remaining 3 doses of the anti-rabies injection.
Dr Sahu said we have given him a higher dose of antibiotics and an anti-tetanus shot too.
Korwa said the leopard made him run for life and he scurried for life when he slipped and when he was on his bended knees, the leopard attacked his right hand with its mighty teeth.
