Jamshedpur, Sept 26: IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued a forecast of light rain in a few places over Jharkhand on Monday. The southwest monsoon is in a retreating phase.
Satellite pictures suggested that the east-west trough was today running from the low-pressure area over north Punjab to southeast Bihar across Haryana and Uttar Pradesh extending up to 1.5 km above mean sea level.
State capital Ranchi and several other places were expected to experience one or two spells of rain today.
Light to moderate rain had occurred at isolated places over the state during the past 24 hours.
The highest rainfall recorded was 25.4 mm at Parsabad (Koderma). The highest maximum temperature 34.8°C
was recorded at Jamshedpur (MO) while the lowest minimum temperature 23.2°C was recorded at Ranchi, Gumla and Simdega.
Rain statistics suggested that against a normal of 992 mm the state has so far received 782 mm, a deficit of 21 per cent.
Weathermen were hopeful that rainfall during the remaining days of September will help further reduce the deficit.
