Jamshedpur, Sept 28: Several parts of Jharkhand was expected to experience light rain accompanied by moderate thunder and lightning today.
Weatherman at IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre said that few places over the state were expected to experience light to moderate rain.
Today’s analysis of satellite pictures at Ranchi Met Centre indicated the formation of a cyclonic circulation over the northeast and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal around October 1.
If the cyclonic circulation intensifies into a low pressure it might result in a good spell of rain over the state in the first week of October.
Meanwhile, Jamshedpur witnessed heavy rain past midnight. The local weather office recorded around 70 mm of rain. But, the city woke up to bright sunshine today.
The rainfall deficit of the state was persisting at 21 per cent. Against a normal of 1007 mm, the state has so far received 794 mm of rain.
