Jharkhand Panchayat election to start from May 14, to be held in four phases

Ranchi, April 9: Governor Ramesh Bais gave his approval for conducting three-tier Panchayat elections in the state. The elections will be held in four phases on 14th May, 19th May, 24th May and 27th May 2022 for Gram Panchayat Member, Mukhiya, Panchayat Samiti member and Zilla Parishad members of three-tier Panchayat bodies under Jharkhand State.

 

The panchayat election was stuck since December 2020. In this situation, the system was being operated through executive committees in more than 4,000 panchayats and Panchayat Samiti, Zila Parishad across the state.

 

Elections were held for the first time in the state in 2010 for the first time after ten years of the formation of the state. After this, the Panchayat elections were held in 2015. This election was due in 2020 but due to the Corona pandemic and other reasons, the conduct of the election could not be possible.

 

In the first phase, elections will be held on May 14 in 1127 gram panchayats spread in 72 blocks. In the second phase, elections will be held in 872 panchayats spread in 50 blocks on May 19.

On May 24, elections were held in 1047 panchayats spread over 70 blocks. In the last phase, the target is to hold elections in the remaining 72 blocks and 1299 panchayats on May 27.

 

In a total of 4,345 Gram Panchayats, elections are to be held for the same number of Mukhiyas, 53,479 Territorial Constituencies (Ward Members) of Gram Panchayat, 5,341 Panchayat Samiti members and 536 posts of Zila Parishad.
