Ranchi, Nov 16: A POCSO Court in the Jharkhand capital awarded 10-year imprisonment to a person, Etwa Oraon alias Amit Oraon, for raping his step daughter in the absence of his wife.

The order came in a four-year-old case on the basis of five witnesses from the prosecution side. There was no witness from the defence side.

A lawyer of the court informed this saying the special judge of the court, Asif Iqbal, apart from awarding jail term also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 and provided one year imprisonment separately in case of non-payment of fine.

Conviction order had come in the case on November 10.

The victim had lodged an FIR in this connection in February 2018 at the Doranda police station.

During the hearing, Additional Public Prosecutor (APP) Mohan Kumar presented concrete evidence before the court. The APP proved beyond reasonable doubt that Oraon used to beat up his step daughter, and when her mother had gone to Mumbai for work, he committed rape.
