Ranchi, Feb 11: Absconding for more than six years, Jharkhand police, seeking the help of Delhi police, today arrested Ranchi-based criminal Sunny Singh from the Kashmiri Gate area in Delhi.

There are as many as 22 cases registered against Singh at different police stations in the Ranchi and Bokaro districts of Jharkhand besides some police stations in Bihar and Bengal. Police had also attached his property three months ago.

Ranchi senior superintendent of police (SSP) Kishore Kaushal informed the breakthrough in a press conference saying there was a permanent arrest warrant against Singh whose main crime was extortion besides firing and bombing.

SSP said that Kaushal was regularly changing his location. When his last location was detected at Shimla in Himachal Pradesh and a police team from Ranchi reached there for his arrest, he got information about the arrival of police and escaped from the state and reached Delhi via road.

“At Delhi, he was arrested from the Kashmiri gate locality with the help of Delhi Police,” Kaushal said.

Sunny, who is a permanent resident of Ashok Nagar Road No.7 in Ranchi, had created panic last year by attacking railway sidings in the Bokaro district of Jharkhand. During that time many criminals of the Sunny Singh gang were arrested from the Sukhdev Nagar area of Ranchi, but Sunny was not touched.

On August 29, 2022, at the behest of Singh, two of his henchmen Aman Singh and Rohit threw a bomb at Bokaro’s Balidih railway siding after firing to demand extortion.
