Jharkhand preps 100 footballers to take on Olympics 2024

Ranchi, Nov 19: With regard to the ‘Mission Olympic 2024’, Jharkhand State Sports Promotion Society (JSSPS) is providing special training to 100 football players (50 men, 50 women) at Hotwar, Khelgaon.

Group 100 consists of many national players who are being given special training for Olympics 2024 which will be held in Paris, France. Players from Ranchi, Gumla, Khunti, Simdega and Bokaro in the age group of 9 to 16 years are being trained at the highest level.

Coach Somnath Singh while talking to the media said that on one hand, where the players are being trained on the field they are also being introduced to the playing style of legendary footballers like Messi, Ronaldo and Neymar.

Group 100 will be shown the matches of the FIFA World Cup which will begin in Qatar on November 20.

Live matches of international teams such as Brazil, France and Argentina and the playing style of big players will be telecasted. About Rs one lakh per month is being spent on each player. This includes the expenses of the players’ education, their stay, nutrition, sports kit and travel for their training. The effort is to enhance the name of Jharkhand in front of the world by refining these talents.

Ajay Mukul Toppo, sports manager of JSSPS, a joint venture of the state government and CCL, told to media that girls between the age of 9 and 15 are being trained for the Olympics. Whereas in boys, this age limit has been kept from 9 to 16 years. These children, who are included in Group 100, are being given training twice a day in Khelgaon. He said that all the needs of the players, from education to sports, have been taken care of.
