Ranchi, April 8: The Jharkhand Men’s team won its second consecutive match in the 12th Hockey India Senior Men’s Championship 2022 by defeating Chandigarh 3-2.
Despite being behind by one goal in the first quarter, Jharkhand made a comeback and scored 2 goals in the second quarter and scored another goal in the third quarter to win the match.
Aniruddh Bhengra scored the first goal in the 17th minute, followed by Noel Topno in the 23rd and Manohar Mundu in the 43rd minute while the Chandigarh team scored in the 7th and 37th minute.
Earlier, Jharkhand had defeated Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu 7-2 in their first match.
Hockey Jharkhand President Bholanath Singh congratulated the team and said that after years, the Jharkhand men’s team defeated a strong team like Chandigarh in the Senior National Competition.
Jharkhand will qualify for the quarter-finals if they win another match.
“Our players are working hard and the team is accompanied by an experienced coach manager,” said Manoj Konbegi, Vice President at Hockey Jharkhand.
Jharkhand will play their next match with Jammu & Kashmir.
