Ranchi, Jan 31: The Ranchi Institute of Neuro-Psychiatry & Allied Sciences (RINPAS), in collaboration with the state health department, is set to begin courses to prepare certified stress managers across the state. These stress managers will be tasked with helping people in their area to eliminate mental stress and will teach people to manage it.

Through this course, people will be prepared to notice any kind of problem related to psychiatry in their locality or the people living around them. These students will be able to counsel people at the primary level.

Dr Masroor Jahan, Professor, Department of Clinical Psychology, RINPAS said that following the instructions of the Health Department, preparations are being made for a certified stress management course at RINPAS.

“Under this, training will be given to graduation and post-graduation students. Under this, training will be given to psychology students studying in colleges and universities, sociology students, social work students and students studying in the rural development departments. Letters are also being sent to all the universities and details of the students are being sought,” Dr Jahan added.

“This will be a 15-day training programme for students studying in colleges and universities, who will in the end will be able to help people living around them or in their area. The students will be able to teach people to manage stress at the primary level. For this, the training of around 30 master trainers will begin on February 13. These trainers will in turn teach students,” Dr Jahan said.

Dr Masroor further informed that there are many people who are living under mental stress. However, what they don’t realise is that mental health issues can be managed if treated and counselled at the beginning itself.
