Jharkhand social worker elected UNGCNI joint secretary

Ranchi, June 20: Ganesh Reddy, a seasoned social worker of Jharkhand and founder of Citizens foundation has been elected as a Joint secretary of the United Nation’s Global compact network India (UNGCNI) Governing council for 2023-25.

He will be the first person to represent Jharkhand in this esteemed platform. With his extensive experience as a social worker and his dedication to creating positive change in society, Reddy is well-equipped to contribute to the Global Compact Network India’s mission in promoting sustainable development in the country. Through his work with Citizens Foundation, he has spearheaded various initiatives focused on Health, Livelihood promotion, Natural resource management in Jharkhand.

The United Nations Global Compact Network India (UNGCNI) is a local network of the

United Nations Global Compact (UNGC). The UNGCNI operates as a platform in India for companies, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to advance the principles and objectives of the UNGC.

The UNGC is a voluntary initiative launched by the United Nations in 2000, encouraging businesses and organizations to adopt sustainable and socially responsible policies and practices. It works to promote sustainable development and corporate responsibility within the country. It supports Indian businesses in integrating the principles of the UNGC into their operations, strategies, and culture. UNGCNI provides a platform for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and learning among its members, and it encourages companies to contribute to the achievement of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
