Ranchi, March 28: The Jharkhand State Sentence Revision Board agreed to release 24 prisoners from different jails across the state.
The development took place after the Board’s meeting under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Hemant Soren. During the meeting conduct of as many as 50 prisoners serving life terms was reviewed. Opinion of courts, SPs, jail superintendents and probation officers of the concerned districts was also considered.
Chief Minister Soren after taking the decision stressed upon the need for a system of counselling, tracking and monitoring of the prisoners released from the jail. Apart from this, he also stressed upon the need of taking initiative in the direction of rehabilitation of the released prisoners and connecting them with the schemes of the government.
Chief minister’s principal secretary Vandana Dadel, Law Secretary Nalin Kumar, DGP Ajay Kumar Singh, chief minister’s secretary Vinay Kumar Choubey, Ranchi Judicial Commissioner Arun Kumar Rai and Inspector General (Prison) Uma Shankar Singh were present in the meeting.
