Jharkhand State U-19 Badminton: Adhya, Saara, Vaibhavi and Anisha enter singles semis

Dhanbad, Dec 11: Title favourite Adhya Singh of Saraikela along with three other top seeds including Vaibhavi Maan (Dhanbad), Saara (Jamshedpur) and Anisha Mishra (Jamshedpur) entered the girls’ singles semifinal of Jharkhand State under-19 Badminton Championship cum selection trial being played at Dumka Indoor Stadium.

In boys’ singles, top-ranked Priyanshu Tirkey of Ranchi also ensured a semifinal berth in the championship today by defeating Ritesh Kumar by 21-2, 21-4 in the quarterfinals.

 

In the quarterfinal, Adhya Singh defeated Anamika of Dhanbad by 21-6, 21-7 while Vaibhavi Maan outclassed Garima Kashyap of Ranchi by 21-6, 21-6.

In another quarterfinal match, Anisha Mishra defeated Shruti of Dhanbad by 21-12, 21-09 while Saara defeated Yogita Bora of Ranchi by 21-13, 21-16.

Now, in the girls’ semifinal, Adhya Singh would meet her doubles partner Saara while Vaibhavi Maan of Dhanbad will once again clash with Anisha Mishra. Notably, Vaibhavi had defeated Anisha at the Jamshedpur state championship held in August.

In boys’ singles:

  • Raunak Negi (East Singhbhum) defeated Adarsh Vishwakarma (Giridih) by 15-8,15-4
  • Niraj Kesri (Ranchi) beat Manas Ranjan (Ranchi) by 15-10, 15-1
  • Ayaan Rahman (Ranchi) defeated Pranshu Saw of (Jamshedpur) by 15-4, 15-7
  • Harshit Raj (Gumla) got a walkover from Alok Kumar Mahto (Ranchi)
  • Ritesh Kumar Sharma (Bokaro) defeated Vivek Oraon (Lohardaga) by 15-8, 15-11
  • Rupesh Raj (Jamshedpur) defeated Joy Chatterjee (Dhanbad) by 15-5, 15-08
  • Anubhav Srivastava (Lohardaga) beat Aniket Kumar (Bokaro) by 8-15, 15-12, 15-11

In another match of boys singles, Ayaan Rahman of Ranchi beat Ram Kailash Munda of Ranchi by 15-8, 15-5. However, his younger brother Amaan Rahman had to face defeat by Harshit Raj of Gumla.

Sajan Kumar of Ranchi defeated Kaushik Raj of Ranchi by 15-8, 15-13, Shantanu Kumar Sharma of East Singhbhum defeated Liladhar Upadhyay of Ranchi by 10-15, 15-11, 15-7.
