Jamshedpur, Dec 10: One CRPF jawan was seriously injured as an IED exploded while he along with his fellow troopers were carrying out an anti-insurgency operation under the Tonto thana area in West Singhbhum district on Saturday morning.
The injured who is a CoBRA jawan, Prabhakar Sahani (31), was airlifted to RIMS from Rengda jungle in West Singhbhum’s Tonto police station area where the explosion was triggered.
Anand Srivastava, the adviser of Medica group of Hospitals at Bhagwan Mahavir Medica Superspecialty Hospital, where the jawan was admitted after he was airlifted from the spot, informed that currently, his condition is stable.
“The jawan is undergoing treatment under the supervision of Dr Nirmal Kumar. He has been diagnosed with a lacerated left lower leg injury. His BP is 110/80 and his pulse is 96. SpO2 is 100 percent (room air). USG has been done and there is a wound debridement plan for today,” Srivastava said.
Incidentally, the CRPF’s 60 battalion which was engaged in a search operation in the Naxal-infested Porahat sub-division in the district succeeded to unearth 10 IEDs under the Goelkera thana area in the morning.
The IEDs were planted in series on a mud road at Gitilipi village under Kuida Panchayat in Goelkera, aiming to inflict casualties on the paramilitary personnel who do often use the stretch during anti-insurgency operations there.
According to police, the recovered IEDs were later blown up at a secluded place in the Goelkera forest.
West Singhbhum District Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ashutosh Shekhar confirmed both incidents but declined to give any more details as the operations are still on.
“We have successfully rushed the injured CoBRA jawan to RIMS as his condition was serious due to the IED blast. Operations are still on at both places. Details will be briefed to media later on when the operations are over, ” said Shekhar while talking to this correspondent.
