S.P.(rural) Naushad Alam informed this while solving a mystery behind recovery of burnt bodies of a woman and two children from Bagda forest under Thakurgaon police station on April 5. The place is on the border of Ranchi and Ramgarh.
Alam informing about the arrest of the four involved in the incident told media persons that the mystery got solved after the police came to know about a missing case informing about missing of a woman, Mamta Devi, with her two children, Aryan Kumar (6) and Yash Raj (5), registered at the Basal police station in Ramgarh district. The FIR was registered on April 3 by Mamta’s husband Vijendra Ram.
“In order to identify the unknown burn bodies when the police reached the Basal police station Mamta’s husband and locality identified the bodies. When the husband was grilled, he admitted the crime and disclosed the reason behind the murder saying wife was strangled to death while two children were killed after they started crying realising the murder,” Alam said.
Alam said: “According to the accused Vijendra Ram, her wife, whom he had married 10 years ago, was not faithful and was in an illicit relationship. According to him, his first son was the outcome of an illicit relationship.”
Alam said the action was taken on the basis information given by Mamta’s father Mohan Ram hinted that her daughter was killed for dowry. He in his FIR mentioned the in-laws had been torturing his daughter one year after her marriage and had been allowed to stay in the home due to social pressure.
