Ranchi, May 24: The School Education and Literacy department, along with Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) is set to conduct the Jharkhand Teachers’ Eligibility Test (JTET) by September – October.

Sources at JAC stated, “The department has already sent us a copy of the revised rules for the JTET. We have also been instructed to make sure that the exams are conducted every year in September or October.”

Explaining the changes, the source said, “The JTET exams that are conducted by JAC are actually under the state government. The government initially made rules and JAC conducted the first-ever exam in 2012. By 2016, however, the rules were revised and another exam was taken. This is the third time that the exam rules have been revised now, for the exam in 2022.”

Notably, the education department has recently finished the process of amending the primary, high school and two school teacher appointment rules. Apart from this, amendments have also been made to Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test Rules and Teacher Transfer Rules 2019. These rules, most importantly make it important for the JAC to conduct JTET exams every year.

Meanwhile, the roster for teachers in plus two schools has been cleared for the appointment. About 3,100 teachers will be appointed in schools. At the same time, the process of clearing the roster for the appointment of teachers in high school has been completed. After clearing the roster by the districts, the report has been sent to the Directorate of Secondary Education.

Along with this, rules are being prepared for the appointment of teachers in Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya and Model Schools. The rules have been approved at the departmental level. The manual has been sent to the Finance Department and the rules are likely to be approved by the cabinet by next month.

Notification of amendment in Assistant Professor (Primary Teacher) Recruitment Rules and Teacher Transfer Rules will be issued by the education department after the Panchayat elections. The Education Department had sought permission from the Election Commission to issue the notification of the Teacher Transfer Manual, but the Election Commission did not give permission.

Notably, the education department had started the process of amending five rules and preparing two new rules this year. Five out of seven rules of the Department of School Education and Literacy have now been approved by the cabinet.

Moreover, the government schools of the state will also get an annual grant of Rs 130 crore for the financial year 2022-23. The amount will be given to the schools according to the number of students. Last year, 125 crores were given to schools as an annual grant. The schools, in turn, will have to spend ten percent of the amount on the cleanliness of the premises of schools.
