Jharkhand teams announced for East Zone badminton championship

Dhanbad, Aug 2: Jharkhand men’s, women’s and  under-19 teams have been announced for the East Zone Inter-State Badminton Championship scheduled to be played in Kolkata from August 11 to August 14.

Announcing the teams, Jharkhand Badminton Association (JBA) General Secretary K Prabhakar Rao today said that players have been selected for different age groups on the basis of their performance in the state badminton championship cum selection trial held at Dumka district from July 21 to 23.

In the 17-member state squad for men’s, women’s and under -19 boys and girls, Ranchi has the largest share with 12 players followed by two from the Dhanbad district.

Men’s team – Shantanu Sharma (Saraikela), Priyanshu Tirki, Emmanuel Kujur, Niraj  Keshri (Ranchi).  Mukesh Kumar,  Akash  Pandit (Giridih), Ramij Alam  (West Singhbhum), Vinay Kumar Singh (doubles)

Women’s team-  Manisha Rani Tirki, Zeenat Arra, Yogita Bora (Ranchi) and Vaishnavi (Deoghar).

Under-19 boys team-  Niraj Kesri (Ranchi), Ronak Negi (Jamshedpur), Priyanshu Tirki, Harshit Raj (Gumla).

Girls under-19 team– Yogita Bora (Ranchi), Vaibhavi Maan (Dhanbad), Ananya (Ranchi), Shruti (Dhanbad).

The coaches of the contingent are Ravi Kesri and Rahul Kumar whereas Ranjan Ray and Ashok Joshi are the managers.
