Ranchi, Dec 23: In order to make the picnic spots in Ranchi free of non-biodegradable waste, the Jharkhand Tourism Department has opted to alert the public visiting there through ‘Paryatak Mitra’ placed at different picnic spots across the district.

A large number of people throng several waterfalls, including Dasam falls, Johna falls and Hundru falls located around the Ranchi city during Christmas and New Year through most of January.

The people reaching the picnic spots will be advised to throw the leftover items in dustbins placed at different locations to protect the beauty of the picnic spots.

Sources in the Jharkhand tourism department said that for the safety and security of the public at different waterfalls across the district, ‘Paryatak Mitra’ will be placed which are expert swimmers and lifesavers trained by the department.

Sources also informed that to prevent the case of drowning at waterfalls a technical team is studying the different locations so as to make the waterfalls safe for the people.

In the past few years, several people have drowned in the Dassam falls and several other cases of falling from a height have been prevalent.

Officials in the Jharkhand Tourism Department said that the public should be made aware through print and electronic media so that no such mishap happens this year.

“There is no need to take bath in the waterfalls as it is very dangerous, it is not the same as taking bath in a swimming pool and it has proved to be life-threatening for several people,” an official said.

“I would request the people to visit the falls across the district but not play with nature as it can take their life and although guards are placed to save them, it would be impossible for them also to get them out of the internal water currents,” the official further added.
