Ramgarh, Feb 12: A meeting of the Ramgarh District Food Vegetable Fruit Business Association was held on Saturday night at the premises of the Bazaar Samiti, wherein it was decided that the Jharkhand traders will go on indefinite strike against agriculture tax from February 15.
The meeting was presided over by Vinay Kumar Agarwal, Chairman, the Market Committee Sub-Committee of Ramgarh Chamber of Commerce along with Amit Sahu, Regional Vice President of the Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce & Industries.
Addressing the meeting, Vinay Kumar Agarwal said that businessmen will not accept the ‘black law’ enacted by the state government. Therefore, it is decided in the meeting that the Food Vegetables Fruit Seller Association will go on an indefinite bandh from February 15.
Meanwhile, Amit Sahu said that the state government has decided to implement the ‘black law’ which will neither benefit food businessmen nor farmers. After the agriculture tax comes into effect, only corruption will be encouraged and laws will be enacted to promote inflation. Due to this, the general public will suffer price hikes.

At the meeting, Pradeep Gupta, President of the Ramgarh Potato Onion Traders Association said that he will not allow the ‘black law’ to be implemented under any circumstances. Meanwhile, Kishore Mahato of the Fruit Business Association said that the law will increase the prices of fruits, leaving the public to bear the brunt of inflation.
During the meeting, the businessmen issued posters agreeing to the indefinite bandh from February 15 and stated that they are likely to protest against the agriculture tax by keeping their respective establishments closed.
