Jamshedpur, Feb 4: Several districts of Jharkhand experienced sub-10 chill during the past 24- hours due to an abrupt fall in minimum temperature. Both Khunti and Simdega on Saturday recorded around 5°C, forcing local residents to wear layers of warm clothes.
At Ranchi, the minimum reading was around two notches below normal. The local Met observatory recorded a minimum temperature between 9 and 10 degree Celsius in Ranchi and its adjoining areas.
IMD records suggest that sub-10 chill was prevailing in Giridih, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Daltonganj, Ramgarh and several parts of Kolhan and Santhal Pargana regions. The minimum temperature in Jamshedpur was recorded as around 11°C, around two notches below normal. Chaibasa in the adjoining West Singhbhum district recorded 9.4 °C.
The head of Ranchi Met Centre Abhishek Anand said the dominating northerly wind has intensified the chill. However, he said there would be no significant change in night temperatures during the next 48 hours. In the subsequent two days after 48 hours minimum temperature would witness are rising Trend.
The Met forecast suggests mainly clear sky and dry weather in Jharkhand for the next few days.
