Jharkhand: Wild elephants kill three in Lohardaga

Ranchi, Feb 20: A herd of elephants trampled three to death at Ladai Tangra village under the Bhandra block in the Lohardaga district today morning. 

The deceased have been identified as Lalman Mahto (60), Neha Kumari (18) and Jhalo Oraon (27). Elephants are still in the village and villagers are terrified. 

According to forest department officials, the elephants were angry after getting separated from their herd and any attempt to disturb them at this moment could be risky.

Earlier on Feb 8, a wild elephant entered Hazaribagh town in the wee hours killing two and injuring two. The two killed were identified as Damodar Saw and Dhaneshwar Sahu whereas the two injured are Rinki Devi and Khushboo Kumari.
