Jharkhand’s rain deficit comes down to 56 per cent

Jamshedpur, June 28: A good shower show during the past couple of days has helped in bringing down Jharkhand’s rain deficit figure to 56 per cent.

Last week the deficit was hovering around 72 per cent with all 24- districts witnessing deficient rain.

According to Meteorological statistics, against a normal of 160.2 mm, Jharkhand has so far received 71.2 mm, a deficit of 56 per cent.

Statistics indicated that still now all 24- districts figure in the rain deficit list.

Weathermen said that June, the first month of monsoon is going to end with deficit rain as IMD has withdrawn the heavy rain alert from the state.

However, it issued an alert of thunderstorms and rain in isolated pockets of the state today.

The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) was today passing through  Jodhpur, Sikar, Narnaul and Firozpur.

Several districts across the state today woke up to overcast conditions with some places witnessing early morning intermittent rains.

The low-pressure area over north Chhattisgarh and the neighbourhood with an associated cyclonic circulation was today extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level.

It is very likely to move towards north Madhya Pradesh during the next two days.

The east-west trough was today running from northwest Rajasthan to the Northeast Bay of Bengal across south Haryana, south Uttar Pradesh, the low-pressure area over north Chhattisgarh, south Jharkhand, south Gangetic West Bengal and northwest Bay of Bengal extending upto 0.9 Km above mean sea level.
