For the first time, four other karatekars of Dhanbad have also been declared qualified as national referee and judges in the online national examination organized by Karate India Organization recently.

KIO Referee Commission Chairman Hansi Premjit Sen, who conducted the examination, has released the list of successful national coaches and referees of the country.

Officials said that selected karatekar across the country including those associated with law enforcement agencies participated in it.

Those who have qualified as national referees and judges of national association are Shihan Manoj Sharma, Shihan Suraj Verma, Shihan Rajesh (national A grade referee) and Shihan Rajesh Kumar Yadav (B grade referee).

Black belt 7th degree holder Ranjit Kesari is also the chief coach of IIT Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad  and has steered several IITians as black belt winners at national level competitions in the last 10 years.

Jharkhand State Karate Association’s general secretary KK Singh and Dhanbad District Karate Association President Sunil Singh while highly appreciating the achievement said that five karatekars of the state had appeared at the national online examination and all of them have been declared successful.

“Selection of Jharkhand’s martial arts veteran as national coach and national referee shows that the state has a bunch of qualified and experienced players to guide at national level,” they said.
