Ramgarh, May 28: Jindal Steel & Power, India’s first and only private sector rail manufacturer has made a big leap in the sector.
The company will set up the country’s first rail wheel manufacturing facility at its steel plant in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh.
The company entered into an agreement with the GIFLO-Hungary to carry out this ambitious plan necessary for nation-building. According to a press release issued, this technical agreement between GIFLO-Hungary and Jindal Steel was signed in New Delhi at the “India-Hungary Business Forum”, organized jointly under the aegis of the Hungarian Embassy and FICCI, according to which the initial production capacity of the plant will be 25,000 sets of wheels every year.
It is worth mentioning that Jindal Steel is manufacturing and supplying various categories of rails for Indian Railways. The company is also preparing Head Hardened Rails for various metro projects in the country.
Advancing rail infrastructure development plans, Jindal Steel is also setting up a Rail Forging Unit for Asymmetric Rails, which will be used to switch rail tracks, especially for the operation of high-speed trains.
VR Sharma, Managing Director, Jindal Steel & Power said that the company is committed to actively supporting the self-reliant India campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“The Rail Wheel Plant will accelerate the modernization of Indian Railways and provide world-class quality equipment. With the availability of diamonds, we will prove to be an important partner in realizing the visionary “Gatishakti Abhiyan” of the Government of India,” he added.
