Ranchi, June 17: The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has condemned Agnipath Recruitment Scheme (ARC) for recruitment of Agniveers in India Army terming it an attempt to militarise the society.

JMM general secretary and spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya made it clear by organising a press conference at the party office.

He said it will be wrong to send youths to face professional forces on border after imparting the same training in 6 months which is presently imparted for two years, including one year basic training and one year special trade training.

Bhattacharya said as far as employment of the agniveer after their retirement in four years is concerned it is difficult as experience suggests that the government will hardly be able to pave their path for appointment as guards at ATMs or any hotel.

Bhattacharya said training of the agniveer will hardly match with NCC cadets, who are imparted two years’ training as junior division cadet and three years’ training as senior division cadets.

Bhattacharya said the way the union government is planning to appoint youths for armed forces very soon India will have more than half of the total army of the world.

While condemning the government for the ARC, Bhattacharya suggested youth to follow the democratic way of agitation saying his party did not justify violence. The JMM general secretary on the occasion while suggesting youth to shun violence also suggested the union government not to take provocative steps.

On the occasion, the JMM secretary asked the union government to fulfil its promise of giving 2 crore jobs every year to youths, start one rank one pension instead of starting a policy of ‘no work, no pension only tension, tension and tension.”

Earlier he cited ‘Agnipath’, a poetry by Harivansh Rai Bacchan.
