Ranchi, March 25: Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Friday faced criticism from his party MLA for his statement that 1932 land records can’t be the basis to formulate the local residence and employment policy of Jharkhand.
Clarifying the stand of his government over the demand of 1932 as the cut-off year, Hemant Soren twice stated (On March 14 and March 23) in the House that in different districts, the land survey was conducted at different points of time. And if 1932 is taken as a cut-off year, the court would take no time to reject the policy.
JMM MLA from Borio Lobin Hembrom on Friday angrily criticized his own government and the chief minister for rejecting the demand for the 1932 land record survey as the baseline.
“We are hurt over what he has said. Entire Jharkhand is burning. Entire Jharkhand is demanding that 1932 should be the baseline. It makes no sense whether we are part of this House or not if the CM has said so,” Lobin Hembrom said this during the call attention motion of the House.
“The CM says that if a policy based on 1932 is framed the court will quash it. It is irrelevant what the court would do. Different domicile policies for different districts with different cut-off dates will not be accepted,” Lobin Hembrom said and turned emotional.
Intervening in the debate, Poraiyahat MLA Pradeep Yadav said that Lobin Hembrom should not react out of the context and the statement of the chief minister should not be mistaken.
“Chief Minister said that forming a policy based on 1932 can be difficult. At the same time, he also said that he would bring out a foolproof policy to serve the larger interest of people of Jharkhand,” said Pradeep Yadav.
