Ranchi, Nov.19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s early morning assurance to repeal the three controversial farm laws on the occasion of Kartik Purnima was not taken well by the ruling alliance of the state though the BJP unit in the state welcomed the decision saying it reflected the broad heartedness of the prime minister.
Ruling alliances including Congress, RJD and JMM smell rat in the decision saying it was taken keeping in view the forthcoming assembly election in UP and Punjab. The BJP, however, rubbished the idea saying the prime minister never thinks for petty gains and also goes beyond the boundaries of caste, creed and religion and political affiliation when the time comes to give something to poor farmers.
JMM spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya defended the party’s stand. Organising a press conference at his office, he said once the election result is declared the party will come with more stringent farm laws that will benefit corporate and damage farmers.
Terming the prime minister “Dhoort (sly) “ and”Kapti (fraud) “, the JMM spokesperson said that he was terrified by the result of the election. He during his press conference also alleged the prime minister of being pro-corporate, anti-labour and anti-constitutional and levelled several allegations suiting the party line.
Congress executive president Bandhu Tirkey justifying his party’s stand on the development said the decision cannot be an example of the famous idiom “Der Aaye Durust Aaye (Good days come late)” . He said it is a ‘political stunt’.
RJD leader Kailash Yadav said: “The result came after the martyrdom of 700 farmers and is the defeat of arrogance and pride.”
BJP state president and Rajya Sabha member Deepak Prakash defended his party stand on the decision saying ‘it is broad heartedness of the prime minister that he took the decision and publicly announced the same without any political bias. One of the reactions of the ruling alliance in the state, he said: “Ab we Vidhwa Vilap Kar rahe hain (lamenting like a widow) aur Ghadiyali Aansu baha rahi haain ( shedding crocodile tears.”
“The PM has always taken historic steps for the uplift of farmers and the entire country is well aware of this fact,” Prakash added.
