New Delhi: Bollywood star John Abraham has made a major entry into the world of cricket by becoming a co-owner of the Rotterdam Dockers franchise in the inaugural European T20 Premier League. The ETPL’s first season is set to run from August 26 to September 20, 2026.

The Rotterdam Dockers ownership group includes several big names from the cricket world, with South African legends Jonty Rhodes, Faf du Plessis, and Heinrich Klaasen alongside managing partner Madhukar Sri. John Abraham has now joined this star-studded ownership group. After joining the franchise, Abraham said cricket has an extraordinary ability to connect and inspire people, and that he is thrilled to be part of the journey with a team that has a clear vision, strong leadership, and great ambitions.
Six Teams to Compete in 32 Matches
The inaugural ETPL season will feature six franchise teams — Glasgow, Amsterdam, Edinburgh, Dublin, Belfast, and Rotterdam — with a total of 32 matches scheduled across the tournament. The league aims to give emerging European players the opportunity to compete alongside international cricketers, helping develop talent in countries such as Ireland, Scotland, and the Netherlands.

The ETPL has attracted several iconic names from world cricket across its various franchises, including Rahul Dravid, Steve Waugh, Jonty Rhodes, Matthew Hayden, Faf du Plessis, and Heinrich Klaasen. Their involvement is expected to give the league global recognition and usher in a new era of franchise cricket in Europe.
