Judicial inquiry commission submits report in SI Rupa Tirkey death case

Ranchi, Jan.22: One-member judicial enquiry commission with former Jharkhand High Court chief justice V.K,Gupta as the only member submitted its report in the matter of sub-inspector Rupa Tirkey’s death to resident commissioner of Jharkhand in New Delhi.

 

What is in the report has not come forward so far but retired Justice Gupta while submitting his report said that it does not contain the points of Tirkey’s family members, who did not turn up before the commission despite information and several reminders.

 

The state government has constituted the one-member judicial inquiry commission to probe the death of the then in-charge of Sahibganj Mahila Thana, Rupa Tirkey. Deadline to submit the report was January 31 and before the end of the deadline Justice Gupta submitted his report without saying anything about the content of the report to anybody.

 

On May 3, 2021, Tirkey was found hanging in the room of her government quarters. A case of unnatural death was first registered at  Borio police station of Sahibganj on May 9, 2021. Inspector Shiv Kumar Kanojia was made accused in this case under the section of abetment to suicide. After which the police arrested Shiv Kanojia and sent him to jail, currently Shiv Kanojia is out on bail.

 

Presently the CBI is also probing the case following direction of the Jharkhand High Court.
