Justice Sanjaya Mishra takes oath as new CJ of Jharkhand high court

Ranchi, Feb.20: Governor CP Radhakrishnan today administered oath to new Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court Sanjaya Kumar Mishra at Raj Bhavan.

On Friday, the Law Ministry issued a notification for the appointment of Justice Mishra as the Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court.

The Chief Minister, other ministers of the state, judges of the Jharkhand High Court, including Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, Justice S Chandrashekhar, Advocate General Rajiv Ranjan, Chairman of the State Bar Council Rajendra Krishna, elected members and other dignitaries were present in the swearing-in ceremony.

 

Know the new Chief Justice

 

Born on 29.12.1961.

Father’s Name : Shri Markanda Mishra

Mother’s Name : Smt. Jyotirmayee Mishra

Place of Birth : Bolangir

Started schooling at Tikra Upper Primary School.

Passed out Higher Secondary Certificate Examination from Prithviraj High School, Bolangir in the year 1977.

Completed B.Com.(Hons.) from Rajendra College, Bolangir in 1982.

Completed M.Com. from Delhi University in 1984.

Completed LL.B. from Law Faculty, Delhi University in 1987.

From March, 1988 joined the profession and started practice in Bolangir District Courts under the guidance of his father, Shri Markanda Mishra.

Conducted several sessions cases, civil suits, civil appeals independently.

Acted as Honorary Law Lecturer of Bolangir Law College.

Secured the 1st position in the Recruitment Examination for District Judges from Bar and on 16.2.1999 joined as Additional District & Sessions Judge, Jeypore.

Also worked as District & Sessions Judge, Sundergarh, Dhenkanal, Special Judge (CBI), Bhubaneswar and joined as Registrar General of Orissa High Court.

Elevated as Judge of the Orissa High Court on 07.10.2009.
