New Delhi, Dec 21: KL Rahul, India’s acting captain for the Test series against Bangladesh, suffered an injury on his hand while batting in the nets on the eve of the second Test match in Mirpur, Dhaka.
Rohit Sharma was previously ruled out of the second Test as well since he is recovering from a thumb injury he sustained during the ODI series. India now leads the series 1-0, and Rahul is anticipated to captain the visitors.
Rahul has sustained an injury, and the team doctor is now evaluating him, according to India’s batting coach Vikram Rathour during a news conference.
“It doesn’t [look serious], Rathour said in his pre-match press conference. He seems to be fine. Hopefully he’ll be okay. The doctors are looking at it, but hopefully he’ll be okay,” Rathour said during the press conference.
Rahul was giving throwdowns when he was smacked on the hand, and the incident occurred toward the end of the net session.

Cheteshwar Pujara, who was designated vice-captain before the series, could assume the captaincy if Rahul is unable to participate in the Test. India must win the second Test in order to increase their chances of taking second place in the World Test Championship table and qualifying for the final for the second consecutive time.
