Hyderabad: Telangana High Court on Monday dismissed the petition filed by BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) seeking to quash charges in the Formula E race corruption case. Reacting to the development, KTR remained defiant, declaring his commitment to fighting for the truth.

“Mark my words, our comeback will be stronger than this setback. Your lies won’t shatter me. Your words won’t diminish me. Your actions won’t obscure my vision. This cacophony won’t silence me! Today’s obstacles will give way to tomorrow’s triumph. The truth will shine brighter with time!” KTR wrote on X. He reiterated his respect for the judiciary and expressed confidence that justice would prevail.

Notably, the court also revoked an earlier order preventing KTR’s arrest, paving the way for further investigation into the matter.

Allegations and Investigation

Telangana’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) is investigating KTR’s alleged involvement in financial irregularities linked to the Formula E race held in Hyderabad in February 2023. According to the FIR registered by ACB on December 19, the case revolves around alleged payments, including some in foreign currency without required approvals, during the previous regime.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also initiated an investigation, registering an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) against KTR and others.

The FIR lists KTR as the primary accused, with senior IAS officer Arvind Kumar and retired bureaucrat BLN Reddy named as co-accused. The charges include violations under the Prevention of Corruption Act and provisions of the IPC related to criminal breach of trust and conspiracy.

KTR Summoned for Questioning

Following the court’s decision, the ACB summoned KTR to its Hyderabad office for questioning in connection with the case. This marks a critical juncture in the ongoing probe, with both the ACB and ED intensifying their investigations.

KTR has maintained his innocence throughout the proceedings, asserting that the allegations are baseless and politically motivated.
