Daltonganj, April 8: The Palamu Divisional Commissioner Jata Shankar Chowdhury and Deputy Inspector General of police Palamu range R K Lakra today visited Balumath in Latehar and took stock of the preparation of the civil and police administrations about the ongoing Ram Navami festival there.
DIG Lakra said we found things pretty normal and peaceful there. He said, “We have asked the officials to take utmost care for the smooth passage of the Ramnavmi festival.”
To a query, Lakra said Balumath remains in the news very often and hence it is seen as a sensitive block as well.
Sources said a few weeks ago there had occurred an intrusion into a government school where some students were roughed up by members of a particular community.
The incident saw a team of senior BJP leaders of Ranchi and Latehar rushing to Balumath to hold a meeting there in this connection, said sources.
Sources reminded that last year Karma Puja 7 girls drowned here. It was a very natural misery then.
However, attempts were made to paint this tragedy on the lines of the community and the saner elements of both the communities saved the situation from going worse.
DIG police said, “Our SDPO here and cops are alert in Balumath.”
He said there would be no shadow of the ugly incident here in the Palamu range.
DIG police consciously not mentioned the name of Khunti saying our Palamu range is doing fine and he won’t go beyond his range.
He said a flag march was conducted in Latehar and Garhwa today.
