Daltonganj, March 28: A mock drill to thwart violence was staged in the police line Latehar today. Latehar SP Anjani Anjan along with the ASP cum SDPO Santosh Kumar Mishra and others was the scriptwriter, director and producer of the mock drill.
Anjani Anjan said, “We had an imaginary story and a plot of seizure of the inflammatory cassette playing with the DJ which had sparked a massive public protest. The public wanted us not to seize but we were firm with the seizure.”
“There occurred an imaginary bandh where miscreants tried to overtake peace. They were burning effigies of the administration. It was nearly a collapse of law and order.” Anjan narrated the plot of the mock drill.
Now it was time for the police to react to the situation. The mob was asked to disperse but they began to gather more fiercely. The situation was getting bad to worse every single minute, he quoted from the script.
Anjani Anjan said, “We used water cannons to disperse the mob. We exploded a stun grenade. Stun grenade is a device to disorient miscreants’ senses as it ends up with the loudest of the loud bangs”.
The next action in the imaginary plot was the use of a dye marker to identify the ruffians. Tear gas followed later on. There was a lathi charge but when the imaginary situation was found most volatile and going out of control the police enacted the mock drill of firing in the air, added the SP.
There is going to be a similar mock drill in Balumath this evening, the SP added.
ASP cum SDPO Santosh Kumar Mishra said it was an exercise and exhibition of our readiness and preparedness to tackle abrupt and unforeseen situations by driving home a message that Latehar police are capable of handling any situation and our law-abiding citizens need not worry.
