Ranchi, Feb.8: Around 378 private security guards, who have been left jobless after 15 years of their continuous services at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) with deployment of 400 Jharkhand Home guard (JHG) Jawans in their positions since February 1, today knocked the door of State Health Minister Banna Gupta for justice.
The guards requested the state minister to give them an opportunity to work again and clear their due remuneration.
One of the guards, Chandan Kumar, who extended their service as a trolley man, said the government action is inhumane and unjustified.
“We worked during the corona pandemic without bothering for our safety but when time came to get a reward, we were left jobless to struggle for two square meals with family,” Kumar said.
The homeward jawans were deputed following a high court direction to ensure proper security to RIMS doctors and nurses. Health minister Gupta had given approval to the deputation.
However, the deputation of home guards has worsened insecurity on the RIMS campus. Since deputation of home guards, it has come to fore that snatchers and eve teasers have become active. Yesterday, doctors protested against an incident of eve teasing with a gynaecologist on the campus.
