Jamshedpur, Sept 25:  Light rain is expected at several places across Jharkhand today, said weathermen at IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre.

The Met department officials also did not rule out the possibility of thundershowers and lightning at a few isolated places.

According to weathermen, conditions are becoming favourable for the withdrawal of southwest monsoon from western Rajasthan.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through Ganganagar, Narnaul, Gwalior, Lucknow, Patna, Malda and thence eastwards to Manipur.

The cyclonic circulation over Southwest Bihar and neighbourhood was today lying over southeast Uttar Pradesh extending up to 3.1 km above the mean sea level.

A trough was running from Jharkhand to the cyclonic circulation over south Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and neighbourhood across Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha at 3.1 km above mean sea level.

A cyclonic circulation is likely to form over the north Andaman Sea and neighbourhood on September 29.

Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the north Andaman Sea and adjoining eastcentral Bay of Bengal during the subsequent 24 hours.

Thereafter, it is likely to move west-northwestwards with the possibility of gradual intensification.

Met statistics revealed that the state’s rain deficit as of today stood at 28 per cent.
