Ramgarh, Jan 10: The body of a 38-year-old Mahesh Bedia, the Mukhiya of Bicha Panchayat in Patratu block of Ramgarh district, was found floating in Pokharia, a closed Saunda D open mine of CCL Bhurkunda OP area.
Patratu SDPO Dr. Virendra Kumar Chaudhary and Bhurkunda OP police reached the spot on receiving the information and started necessary investigation. They took possession of the dead body and sent it to Ramgarh Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.
After prima facie investigation, the police have expressed apprehension of murder of the Mukhiya. They also found that Mukhiya’s bike and one of the shoes are missing.
“Matter is being investigated from every angle. His bike and mobile are also being searched for. The body was sent for post-mortem. The real cause of death will be known only after receiving the report. There is a mark on the neck of the deceased. At present, the police have kept every angle of murder and suicide under investigation,” Patratu SDPO said.
Relatives of the deceased informed the police that Mukhiya left for Bhurkunda from his house in Sutarpur at around 8 a.m. on Sunday. He had to get the bike repaired in the garage. After this, he was also seen near a motorcycle garage at Birsa Chowk Laxmi Talkies in the evening.
On Monday morning, some people went towards the closed Pokharia of Saunda D when they found a dead body floating in the water. They informed the police immediately and when the body was fished out, it was identified as Mukhiya Mahesh Bedia.
