Dhar, July 18: Maharashtra government bus crashed into the Narmada river in Madhya Pradesh, killing at least 13 people. A total of 15 were rescued till now.
The bus, which was traveling from Indore to Pune, broke the railing off the Sanjay Setu bridge in the Khalghat neighbourhood of Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district and skidded off a slick road before plunging into the river.
“The district administration team is present at the accident site. The bus has been removed. I am in constant touch with Khargone, Dhar district administration. Instructions have been given to make arrangements for proper treatment of the injured,” Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said in a tweet.
There may have been 50 to 60 passengers on the bus. According to officials, the bus has been recovered despite the location receiving a lot of rain.
Brake or steering failure may have caused the collision, according to Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra, even if the cause is still unknown.
