Dhanbad, Nov 30: The malls lacking parking space for vehicles would be shut down in Dhanbad soon.
National Road Safety Council (NRSC) member Ravindra Tiwary on Tuesday directed the concerned authority of the district administration to check it and get closed such a mall immediately if it lacks proper parking space.
“ It would not be accepted that you would open the market and get crowd assembled which leads to a traffic jam problem. So I have asked district administration officials to adopt no parking space, no mall,” said Ravindra Tiwary.
The NRSC member who has come to Dhanbad on the directive of Union Minister of Road Transport and Highway Nitin Gadkari to assess the road jam problem of Dhanbad, was talking with media persons at Dhanbad circuit house on Tuesday late afternoon.
He further said that the malls lacking parking space have no authority to run the market but at the same time, he also pleaded that there is a need for coordination between officials and mall operators rather than the strict implementation of guidelines. “However, mall operators have to be alerted so that traffic jam problems do not appear,” he observed.
Union minister for road transport and highway Nitin Gadkari has sent a team to Dhanbad after social organizations of the coal city tweeted him in mass for bailing out the perennial traffic jam problem.
During a daylong stay in Dhanbad, the NRSC member held a meeting with members of the Dhanbad Road Road Safety Committee and visited several points of the city where traffic jams appear daily.
“ I have visited several districts of Jharkhand and found that there was a lack of coordination among district administration authorities in dealing with traffic jam problems. But in Dhanbad officials of district administration, police and other concerned departments have coordination and they are serious in solving the problem,” said Ravindra Tiwary. He would submit his report to the union minister.
