New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee walked out of the NITI Aayog meeting on Saturday, July 27, citing that she was allowed to speak for only five minutes. The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“I said the central government should not discriminate against state governments. I wanted to speak, but I was allowed only five minutes. People before me spoke for 10-20 minutes. I was the only one from the opposition participating, yet I was not allowed to speak. This is insulting,” Banerjee told reporters.

The incident highlights ongoing tensions between state governments and the central government, particularly regarding fair representation and the allocation of speaking time at crucial meetings like those of NITI Aayog.
